Android notifications are customizable to some degree. However, there are many different notification types and options that you can use to customize your Android notifications.
We’ll take a look at each type of notification in detail below and show you how you can change them.
The notification system on Android is one of the best features of the operating system. It allows you to quickly and easily interact with your phone without having to open it up. But there are some limitations to this feature that can be annoying if you don’t know how to customize them. Here’s how you can customize Android notifications:
Open the Settings app and tap on Notifications
Tap on Advanced options
Under Notification behavior, tap on Show next notification
Here you can choose whether or not you want to see a notification from a particular application when it’s open. You also have control over how many notifications you want to receive from each application, so if an app constantly sends more than two or three, don’t worry about changing this setting — just ignore them all.
There are a lot of customization options in Android, but one of the most useful is the ability to customize your notifications. We’ve already talked about how to set up a notification sound and vibration pattern on Android, but today we’re going to talk about how to customize your notifications in general.
Your phone’s notifications tray can be customized by each individual app. For example, if you have an app that sends you alerts on a regular basis but you don’t want it showing up in the Notification Center all the time, you can turn off its notification settings from this screen.
You’ll find this screen by swiping down from the top of your screen and tapping Settings > System > Notifications & actions. Here you’ll see all your apps’ notifications and how long they’ve been active for. You can also clear out all notifications at once by tapping Clear All.
The same goes for any other notification types — like missed calls or texts — which will appear in this menu as well if they haven’t been cleared out yet. If there are any buttons that aren’t responding correctly when tapped (like for opening an app), then you’ll see them appear as grayed out here
Android notifications are a great way to get your phone’s attention without interrupting you. You can control the types of notifications you receive, from alerts to calendar updates, and even block or rate-limit them.
To customize your Android notifications, head to the “Notifications” section in your phone’s settings menu. From there, tap “Edit,” then adjust any of the settings listed below.
Block All Notifications
If you don’t want to be disturbed by any type of notification on your phone, go into its settings menu and choose “Notifications.” From here, simply slide down the list of options until you find “Block all.” When you do, any notification that wasn’t blocked before will disappear from your phone entirely.
This is an especially useful setting if you often get spammy messages from apps like Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp (or other messaging services). If you want to keep these kinds of messages but don’t want them popping up on your lock screen every time someone sends one, this is a good option for blocking all notifications except those directly related to their originator (such as texts from friends).
